Soup lovers, I'd love to know...

Hi everyone! Hope you are enjoying your summer.

As I plan for September, I'd love to know which day of the week is most often your soup-making day?

Please leave your answer in the comments below, and I'll see you in September.

PS: I'm a Sunday soup gal.

Taking the summer off

I'm a huge fan of summer soup, so I don't want you to think I'm giving this blog a rest for the summer because nobody eats soup in hot weather. Not true!

Other projects have come to the forefront this month, like the new Rhode Island Recipes cookbook I wrote with fellow blogger and Rhode Islander Jennifer Leal from Savor the Thyme. It's a really fun collection of recipes that use our favorite culinary souvenirs in healthy dishes, and it helps promote local business in our state. Check it out.

Also, I have a couple of e-books of my own recipes (including soup recipes, of course) in the works, available later this summer.

As always, I'll continue to post my own original soup recipes on The Perfect Pantry. Make sure you head over there to sign up for updates, and you won't miss a soup.

Check out my friend Kalyn's blog Slow Cooker from Scratch, for ideas for summer soups you can make in the slow cooker to keep your kitchen cool.

Soup Chick will stay right here, so you can find the recipes you love, and I expect you to spend the summer making watermelon gazpacho, cantaloupe and yogurt soup and tomato soup with fennel and orange.

I might check in from time to time, just to make sure you're still eating soup. Have a wonderful summer.

Leftover corned beef soup with sauerkraut and tomatoes, from Kalyn's Kitchen

Leftover corned beef soup, perfect for St. Patrick's Day, from Kalyn's Kitchen (on Soup Chick).

No matter how many people you have at the dinner table on St. Patrick's Day, there always seems to be a little bit of corned beef left over. Perhaps it's because the potatoes and cabbage you cook alongside the meat fill everyone up. Or, perhaps it's because St. Patrick himself wants you to turn the leftovers into soup! If you've never had corned beef in soup, well, gosh and begorrah, this recipe for leftover corned beef soup with sauerkraut and tomatoes from Kalyn's Kitchen will make a believer out of you. No sauerkraut on hand? Use some of your leftover cabbage from the holiday meal, with a splash of vinegar.
