Taking the summer off

I'm a huge fan of summer soup, so I don't want you to think I'm giving this blog a rest for the summer because nobody eats soup in hot weather. Not true!

Other projects have come to the forefront this month, like the new Rhode Island Recipes cookbook I wrote with fellow blogger and Rhode Islander Jennifer Leal from Savor the Thyme. It's a really fun collection of recipes that use our favorite culinary souvenirs in healthy dishes, and it helps promote local business in our state. Check it out.

Also, I have a couple of e-books of my own recipes (including soup recipes, of course) in the works, available later this summer.

As always, I'll continue to post my own original soup recipes on The Perfect Pantry. Make sure you head over there to sign up for updates, and you won't miss a soup.

Check out my friend Kalyn's blog Slow Cooker from Scratch, for ideas for summer soups you can make in the slow cooker to keep your kitchen cool.

Soup Chick will stay right here, so you can find the recipes you love, and I expect you to spend the summer making watermelon gazpacho, cantaloupe and yogurt soup and tomato soup with fennel and orange.

I might check in from time to time, just to make sure you're still eating soup. Have a wonderful summer.

It's always good to take a break now and then - although it sounds as if you will be plenty busy! I have already ordered "Rhode Island Recipes," and I'm looking forward to trying out some of those RII ingredients.

So excited to hear that you have some cookbooks coming out! The Perfect Pantry is my go-to source for delicious, non-fussy, and reliable recipes. Looking forward to hearing more about them.

Rachel, Kalyn: Thanks so much.

Judy, you're so kind. I'm glad to hear that you use the recipes on The Perfect Pantry. And yes, I'm planning a busy summer!
