Seven soups every Saturday: detox soup recipes
Why wait until January to start a new health regimen? The cooler weather that's creeping into New England gives me new energy, and I need some new energy on the inside, too. I've never been entirely sure what constitutes a detox soup, but I love the idea of cleansing my system and pumping it full of antioxidants. When I went to look for a recipe, I found not one, but many variations. All seem to have a few things in common: dark leafy greens or deep orange carrots or beets, ginger, and the absence of cream and salt.
Seven detox soup recipes caught my eye this week:
Detox soup, from Chez Us
Detox green soup with broccoli, spinach and ginger, from Gluten-Free Goddess
Super detox broccoli soup, from Real Epicurean
Carrot, cumin and ginger detox soup, from Not Quite Nigella
Green goddess soup, from food52
Detox soup, from Seriously Soupy
Cleansing miso, beet, asparagus detox soup, from Honest Fare

Now here's the list for me! I see several 'make me first' and one I've made before. People think of spring as the time for detox, but every season change it's a good move.
Susan, I love the idea of starting fresh in the Fall. No matter how old we get, and how far away from school, Fall always seems to be the start of the year. I am ready to detox!
Thanks for the shout-out on our detox soup. That soup recipe is really delicious despite being called "detox". I was just thinking we should do it before the holidays as well as after .... to pump up our vitamins during an over indulgent time of the year.
Hello,
Years ago I found a recipe for a healing/detox soup. In the list of ingredients were one bunch of parsley and one bunch of cilantro. I remember there was cayenne pepper and it was in a chicken broth base. I have lost this wonderful recipe due to a computer crash. My hope is that you have one similar to it that you could share. Thank you.
Lynn, it's my policy not to share recipes I haven't published on the blog. However, you can use Food Blog Search (click on the link in the left-hand column) to find hundreds of recipes, and I hope one of them is close to the recipe you remember.
