Seven soups every Saturday: chicken soup recipes

Chicken stock

In the house where I grew up, chocolate (specifically, Hershey milk chocolate bars) cured most everything, and Jewish-style chicken soup cured what the nice folks at Hershey could not. In my own house, things work pretty much the same way, except we believe that any type of chicken soup can banish the blahs. I'm partial to chicken soups with a bit of heat (red pepper flakes, Sriracha, cayenne) and a bit of meat. Some people believe it's the slurpy noodles in chicken soup that effect a cure, but I believe it's magic.

Seven chicken soup recipes caught my eye this week:

Chicken soup for body and soul, from Gluten-Free Goddess

Southwestern chicken soup with black beans and corn, from For the Love of Cooking

Malaysian chicken noodle soup with Asian greens and chili-soy sauce, from Steamy Kitchen

Matzo ball soup, from Smitten Kitchen

Chicken soup with collard greens, carrots, and brown rice, from Kalyn's Kitchen

Colombian chicken soup, from Simply Recipes

Italian chicken and escarole soup, from Food Blogga

I firmly believe in the cure-all properties of chicken soup.
