Seven soups every Saturday: curry soup recipes

Whenever the threat of snow hangs over northwestern Rhode Island, I want hot and spicy food. Will it banish the cold and ice? No, but it will make me warm and tingly, fortified for shoveling or for cozying up with a book. Curry soups get their kick from Thai curry paste, or from a combination of dry spices in the Indian style. Whichever you use, you control the heat by using more or less than the recipe suggests. Often, but not always, coconut milk balances the spice and carries the flavor.

Kalyn, I'm a big fan of hot curry, so my own soup recipes are really, really warm!

Kirsten, I hope you'll visit this Etsy artist's shop. She has many wonderful soup illustrations (I particularly like a Chinese soup... might have to have that for my own kitchen).
