My name is Lydia, and I'm an addict. I love spicy food, the hotter the better, and the more I get, the more I want. I didn't grow up this way; in fact, I had an intense fear of hot and spicy food until I spent a vacation in New Orleans, where the food tingled my taste buds in a whole new way. Worlds of spice opened up to me after that trip, and I began to seek out dishes marked with the little red chile pepper symbols on Asian menus. Now I order my Trinidadian roti extra spicy, I reach for the hot (not the mild) sauce at our favorite barbecue joint, and I shake hot sauce on my Peruvian rice and beans. And it goes without saying that my soups have gotten spicier, too.
