Seven soups every Saturday: hot and spicy soup recipes

IMG_7593

My name is Lydia, and I'm an addict. I love spicy food, the hotter the better, and the more I get, the more I want. I didn't grow up this way; in fact, I had an intense fear of hot and spicy food until I spent a vacation in New Orleans, where the food tingled my taste buds in a whole new way. Worlds of spice opened up to me after that trip, and I began to seek out dishes marked with the little red chile pepper symbols on Asian menus. Now I order my Trinidadian roti extra spicy, I reach for the hot (not the mild) sauce at our favorite barbecue joint, and I shake hot sauce on my Peruvian rice and beans. And it goes without saying that my soups have gotten spicier, too.

Seven hot and spicy soup recipes caught my eye this week:

Garlic mushroom soup, from eCurry

Spicy pumpkin soup with cilantro pepita pesto, from Pinch My Salt

Hot and sour vegetable and tofu soup, from Monsoon Spice

Chinese Szechuan spicy fish soup, from Jeanette's Healthy Living

Slow cooker hot and sour soup, from FatFree Vegan Kitchen

Hot and sour chicken noodle soup, from Appetite for China

Tom yum goong, from Rasa Malaysia

Find more delicious hot and spicy soup recipes on Food Blog Search. Come back every Saturday for seven soup recipes to enjoy any day of the week.

I too am a spicy hot food addict. Luckily for us, there is no 12 step program. Just delicious soups. ;-)

I am a spicy food addict too - hot sauce, not chili bean paste, chipotle, you name it. Thanks for including me in your collection of soups this week.

I love all these soups, although I am sometimes a little wimp on spiciness.

CJ, we definitely don't need a 12-step program! I don't want to be "cured" of my spicy food habit.

Jeanette, same here, almost any form of heat works for me. Thanks for sharing your fish soup. I can't wait to try it.

Everyday Mavin, welcome to our support group!

Kalyn, of course the way to start with spicy is a little bit at a time. It took me years to build up the tolerance I have now.
